Dear valued patients and friends,
As you may be aware, I have been practicing dentistry for almost 60 years. It has been a tremendously rewarding career with the intention and specialty of the practice having evolved into what it is today: a wellness approach that considers the intimacy of the mouth-body connection. Last year I made the difficult decision to retire from my dental practice and seek out a dentist who also shares a holistic philosophy of dentistry. The good news is that after an extensive nationwide search and interviewing many dentists, I have found the perfect candidate who will take over the practice and serve my patients with the same care and commitment that I have delivered.
Dr. Iman Abdeshahian, (goes by Dr. Iman), has been practicing dentistry in Southern California for nearly 10 years and has been on a dedicated learning path to treat patients at the highest level. We are both excited to have found one another and we are committed to having him take up the mantle and raise the practice philosophy to an even higher level.
Dr. Iman’s education includes undergraduate studies at Baylor University, dental school at Midwestern College of Dental Medicine and further dental education at King’s College and Guy’s Hospital, both in London. He is currently a board member at the Cypress College Foundation.
His philanthropic work includes several mission trips to countries such as Fiji, Guatemala, Mexico and Tonga and he is tri-lingual, speaking English, French and Farsi.
For the last several years, he has been a clinical educator in the restorative department at the UCLA School of Dentistry. This experience led to his becoming the team dentist on the medical team of the LA Galaxy and Angel City FC soccer teams. He was also part of the Cedar-Sinai medical team at the 2023 NCAA College Football Championship game at SoFi Stadium.
I am delighted to say that all my devoted and competent team members – Leanne, Rachael, Joanne, Julie and Yese – will remain in the practice to serve you. They are excited to be able to continue with a dentist who shares the same philosophy that they have been integral in building and will ensure that the same level of service is achieved.
We look forward to introducing you personally to Dr. Iman and will be hosting an open house on April 28, 2023 at the office from 3:00pm – 7:00pm. If you are unable to attend the open house, please stop by anytime during office hours, Monday – Thursday (8:00am – 4:00pm) and we will be happy to give an introduction.
In closing my friends, I want to thank you for allowing me the privilege to be your dentist. Your confidence and trust in me have been tremendous and unforgettable. I will continue to be in the office working closely with Dr. Iman for as long as necessary in order to ensure that there is a complete and thorough transition.
Sincerely,
BIOLOGICAL DENTISTRY is not a separate specialty of dentistry, but a thought process and attitude that can apply to all facets of dental practice and to health care in general: to concentrate first on the causes of oral health problems rather than solely treating their results; then, always seek the safest, least toxic way to accomplish the goals of modern dentistry and of contemporary health care and to recognize the essential connections between oral health and overall health.
